Nigerian skit maker Isbae U has recalled the emotional and professional difficulties he experienced during a controversy in 2022, saying the backlash made him wonder whether his entertainment career had come to an end.
The content creator, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, made the disclosure during an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown.
Isbae U said the controversy was difficult to deal with because it was his first experience with such widespread negative attention.
He noted that people who had previously supported his work and regularly praised his content began making critical comments.
The sudden change in public reaction left him uncertain about his future, prompting him to seek advice from fellow skit maker Mr Macaroni.
According to Isbae U, he asked whether the situation meant the end of his career.
“2022 was a tough time for me. It was the first time I was going through something like that, and then I asked Mr Macaroni, ‘Is this the end?’” he said.
He explained that the experience helped him understand the unpredictable nature of public opinion.

People, he said, can quickly change their views about a celebrity, particularly when controversy surrounds that person.
Isbae U decided not to allow the criticism to determine the direction of his career.
Instead, he concentrated on improving his skills, developing his craft and becoming a better person.
He also changed his social media habits by limiting the amount of personal information he shared with followers.
“I stepped back from posting anything about my life and I kept giving them entertainment,” he said.
The content creator explained that he chose to focus on entertaining his audience rather than constantly responding to criticism.
Isbae U also discussed his interview programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask, saying the project was created to reveal different sides of well-known personalities.
He said he would be interested in interviewing former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The content creator’s comments offer an account of how he navigated a period of intense public criticism and the changes he made afterward.
Despite the experience, Isbae U has continued working in the entertainment industry and developing his presence as a digital content creator and interviewer.
