‘You can’t be gay, Christian at the same time’ – Actress Juliana Olayode

Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has clarified her position on homosexuality and Christianity, saying that although she disagrees with LGBTQ identities under her interpretation of Scripture, she does not wish harm upon people who identify as gay or queer.

The actress made the remarks in an Instagram post calling on the Church to defend biblical teachings and resist what she considers compromises driven by changing cultural attitudes.

Olayode said Christian institutions should not remain silent while teachings they believe contradict the Bible spread among adults, teenagers and children.

She urged believers to return to Scripture and ensure that their convictions are guided by God’s Word.

The actress argued that being gay or queer conflicts with the Christian faith as she understands it.

However, she stressed that her religious position should not be mistaken for hatred towards people with different sexual identities.

Olayode said she did not believe gay, homosexual or queer people deserved to die and did not wish evil upon them because of their sexuality.

She maintained that every person deserves love and that Christians should treat others with compassion.

At the same time, she argued that loving someone does not mean agreeing with all their beliefs or lifestyle choices.

The actress cited Genesis 1:27, which describes humanity as created male and female in God’s image, and Matthew 19:4-6, which she said supports the biblical understanding of marriage.

According to Olayode, Christians should accept Scripture as the authority guiding their convictions instead of adjusting its teachings to accommodate personal desires or cultural expectations.

Her comments have generated discussion about the relationship between traditional Christian beliefs and LGBTQ inclusion.

The actress’s message combines a firm statement of her religious convictions with an appeal for people to be treated with love despite differences.

She concluded by urging the Church to speak truth in love and remain committed to the biblical principles she believes should guide Christian life.

Her position represents her personal interpretation of Christian teachings on sexuality and marriage.
