Veteran singer Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, better known as Saint Janet, has died and the death has plunged Nigeria’s Juju and Highlife music industry into mourning following her passing after a brief illness.
The legendary performer died Saturday, ending a musical career that made her one of the most lively live performers in the country, according to reports.
Publisher and socialite **Otunba Femi Davies** announced the development on his Facebook page Sunday.
Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician, St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore) is dead. She was popular for her energetic live performances, dynamic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks. “She died after a short illness on Saturday,” Davies wrote.
For her entire career Saint Janet enjoyed a huge fan base with her high energy stage performances that blended Juju and Highlife rhythms with humour, wit and social consciousness which struck a chord with audiences at parties and social events.
