Omoyele Sowore, a human rights campaigner, has revealed why he was unable to attend the Department of State Services (DSS) court hearing.

Speaking on Friday via his 𝕏 account, Sowore asserted that the court hearing’s trial date was purposefully set for the same day as the scheduled protest in Aba to keep him from going to the gathering.

He claims that the judge presiding over the case was absent when he and his legal team arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026.

“The judge was not present when we arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026, so his registrar set March 24 as the next date,” he wrote.

He continued by saying that his attorneys formally requested a new hearing date since differences later emerged amongst the parties to the case.

“Our lawyers wrote to request a new date because the parties couldn’t agree,” said Sowore.

The activist asserted, however, that after the DSS allegedly found out that he intended to fly to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu rally, things changed.

“To prevent me from attending the historic rally, the DSS abruptly scheduled the hearing for the same day as soon as they learned that we were traveling to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest,” he claimed.

Sowore characterized the change as intentional, stating that the new hearing date was clearly intended.

He wrote, “It’s clear what the games are.”

The activist claimed that the fight will go on despite the circumstances.

“A concept whose time has come cannot be defeated,” he continued.
