This comes as ISWAP burned down a Christian village in Adamawa State.
A security expert, Brant Philip, disclosed this on Thursday in a viral video released by the terrorists.

“ISWAP released an image of one of the Christian villages in Adamawa State burning, alongside a statement saying that all Christians in Nigeria are legitimate targets, and they have an opportunity to “spare their blood” by converting to Islam or paying the jizyah tax to ISWAP,” Brant Philip wrote on X.
The move is perceived as retaliation for recent joint airstrikes by the Nigerian and United States military against a terrorist enclave in Sokoto, Nigeria.

Recall that five days ago, United States President Donald Trump announced that the US military launched airstrikes against terrorists in Sokoto State.

The police authority in Adamawa State says it arrested one suspect in connection with the killing of a Point of Sale operator, Abbas Yuguda, in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed in a statement on Monday that Yuguda, while returning from his business place, was attacked by a group of suspected robbers who attacked and inflicted injuries on his head and left him in a pool of blood.

Nguroje noted that upon receiving information about the incident, police operatives visited the scene, where they found Yuguda and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died during treatment.

The PPRO said, “The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome killing of a POS operator, Abbas Yuguda, 35 years old, who was attacked in Mayo-Belwa LGA.

<amp-video-iframe src="https://360playvid.info/slidepleer/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s" width="16" height="9" layout="responsive" dock="#pv-dock-slot" style=" overflow: visible !important;"> </amp-video-iframe>

“The incident occurred on March 22, 2025, when the victim was on his way home after closing from his business premises. Some groups of people armed themselves with offensive weapons, attacked and inflicted severe injuries on his head and left him lying in a pool of blood.

“The command’s operatives attached to Divisional police headquarters, Mayo Belwa, arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa, in a bid to save his life but sadl,y he was confirmed dead while on admission receiving treatment.”

He continued that some youths in the area who were privy to the incident trailed and caught one of the suspected armed robbers and subdued him to mob action.

The spokesperson noted that it took the intervention of the police to rescue the suspect from the mob, who had been admitted to a hospital.

He warned residents of the state against jungle justice while urging them to always report any incident to the police.

“On the strength of that, one of the suspects, identified as Umar SNU, was trailed by some angry youths, he was subdued to mob action before being rescued by the police. He was equally rushed to a hospital for medical attention, now aiding the investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has strongly condemned this act of violence and has directed a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“He also warned members of the public to desist from taking laws into their own hands and urged them to allow the law always to take its course. The Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” Nguroje stated.

TheNigerian Metro reported in December 2024 that some suspected armed robbers attacked a community in the Atan-Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State and killed a security guard who was guarding a mini carpark in the area while absconding with a truck parked in the park.

Our correspondent learnt from a resident of the community that a food vendor on the premises of the park had discovered the lifeless body of the guard, who was hacked and tied to a corner.

The food vendor was said to have raised the alarm, thereby drawing the attention of other community members.

“The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, at the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters that on March 17, 2025, the suspect lured his daughter into his grinding engine shop located at Kasuwan Borkono, Mubi North, and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her, knowing full well that she is a minor.”

The proprietor of Aliyu Mustapha College, Yola, Adamawa State, Mrs Amada Pam and his school teacher, Mr. Morgan Effiong, were on Thursday remanded in Jimeta prison for torturing a 14-year-old SS 1 student, Jafa Bashiru.

TheNigerian Metro gathered that when the charges were read to the two accused persons, they both pleaded not guilty of the offences levelled against them.

The counsel for the defendants, Chris Ezenwelu, told the court that the offences were bailable and moved an oral application for the bail of the two accused persons.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Rakat Kardam, who requested time to conclude his investigations, told the court that the two accused persons might tamper with the investigations if released on bail.

<amp-video-iframe src="https://360playvid.info/slidepleer/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s" width="16" height="9" layout="responsive" dock="#pv-dock-slot" style=" overflow: visible !important;"> </amp-video-iframe>

The Upper Area Court 1 Judge, Shehu Mustapha, after listening to the counsel for the defendants adjourned till 2:30 pm for ruling on the application.

However, a drama played out at the court, at 2:30 pm, as instead of the judge ruling on the application, he invited the proprietor into his office for a closed-door meeting that lasted for over three hours.

Friends of the complainants and family members became apprehensive within the court premises over the judge’s secret meeting with one of the accused persons.

In his office, the judge made a U-turn and directed that the two accused persons should be remanded in prison and adjourned ruling on the bail application to Friday (today).

The father of Jafa, Bashiru Hamman, told TheNigerian Metro, that he was in the school to submit his son fees teller when he saw him with blood all over his back and he was forced to kneel in the hot sun.

“When I wanted to enquire what my son had done that he was treated like an animal, the proprietor started raining insults on me and asked me to leave her office,” he said.

He appealed to Nigerians to stand with the family to ensure that his son would get justice and that other parents were not victims of the brutal treatment of students by those who should be their guardians.

The Adamawa State Police Zone 3 has arrested the proprietor of Aliyu Mustapha College, Mrs Amada Pam, and a teacher, simply identified as Mr Morgan, at Upper Luggere in Jimeta, Yola, the state capital, over the torture of a student.

Our correspondent was informed by a security source who did not want to be identified that the student, called Jafa Bashiru, was last week Wednesday, tortured by a teacher identified by one of the security officers of the school as Mr. Morgan.

TheNigerian Metro gathered on Wednesday that the proprietor contacted the Karewa Police Station to arrest the father of the student who was alleged to have attempted to attack Morgan after school hours, but the policemen deployed to carry out the arrest declined when they saw the condition of the student in his pool of blood with family members in tears.

The Police Public Relations Officer Zone 3 comprising Adamawa and Taraba states, SP Yusuf Mohammed, who exclusively confirmed the sad incident to TheNigerian Metro via a telephone interview, said the proprietor had been summoned to appear on Wednesday for investigation.

<amp-video-iframe src="https://360playvid.info/slidepleer/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s" width="16" height="9" layout="responsive" dock="#pv-dock-slot" style=" overflow: visible !important;"> </amp-video-iframe>

“The father of the boy has written his statement on the matter and we will ensure justice in this case. The police cannot turn their eyes from criminal brutality,” he said.

A top government official who spoke to TheNigerian Metro, but didn’t want his name in print, said the government might shut down the school to serve as a detriment to other proprietors.

“We have been receiving negative reports about the school, but this case is one case too many. A drastic action must be taken this time,” he said.

TheNigerian Metro gathered that the proprietor and the teacher would be charged in court on Thursday.

The Zone 3 PPRO on Wednesday told our correspondent on the telephone that he would give details of the incident on Thursday.

“Yes, I confirm that the case is before Zone 3 and the proprietor has been invited to appear on Wednesday,” he said.

When TheNigerian Metro called him at the close of work on Wednesday to know whether the proprietor honoured the invitation, he said, “Throughout today, I was out of the office. So, I can’t confirm if the proprietor was in the office or not. But by tomorrow (Thursday), I can give you the full details.”

To complement efforts by the federal government to secure food through agriculture, the African Nature Investment Foundation (ANI) has launched a beekeeping programme for farmers living around the two sectors of Gashak-Gumti National Park, located in Adamawa and Taraba states in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

Gashaka is south of the park located in Taraba State, and Gumti, the northern sector located in Adamawa State.

The Community Liaison Manager for the ANI Foundation, David Peter, confirmed to LEADERSHIP that the scheme was launched in late 2024 to enrich the host community members through small-scale income and promote food security.

“We started the beekeeping initiative with five communities in the Gashaka sector and later extended it to five more in the Gumti sector.

“Currently, we have 50 beneficiaries evenly split between the two sectors, with 25 in each.

We have provided them with training and all the necessary materials and tools for production, along with protective gear for hive inspections,” Peter stated.

According to Peter, the adopted scheme allocates five hives to each selected community. “With five hives per community, we have 125 production hives in each of the two sectors, totalling 250 production hives across both sectors.”

Peter stated that it is important to note that the beekeeping initiative goes beyond the economic empowerment of farmers. “Previously, before the beekeeping programme, communities would cut down an entire tree to harvest the honey found within it. Can you imagine how wasteful this is? Our beekeeping programme will stop trees being cut down needlessly. We are preventing deforestation!”.

No fewer than 12 shops were razed when a late-night fire gutted the Fallujah Shopping Mall in the Yola area of Adamawa State on Wednesday.

TheNigerian Metro gathered in a statement by the National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday that goods whose worth had yet to be ascertained were also destroyed in the fire that started at about 8:30 pm.

The statement added that the intervention of emergency responders de-escalated the fire from causing severe damage.

It read, “A fire incident occurred at the Fallujah Shopping Mall in Yola at approximately 8:30 pm, yesterday (Wednesday) night, destroying property worth millions of naira.

<amp-video-iframe src="https://360playvid.info/slidepleer/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s" width="16" height="9" layout="responsive" dock="#pv-dock-slot" style=" overflow: visible !important;"> </amp-video-iframe>

“The incident sent flames and thick black smoke into the sky, causing panic among residents and business owners in the area.”

It added that there were no casualties recorded in the incident, but goods including mobile phones and accessories were destroyed.

“No casualties have been reported. However, 12 shops were completely consumed by the fire, leading to significant losses, including phones and accessories.

“Firefighting operations have been concluded, the affected area cordoned and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident,” the statement concluded.

TheNigerian Metro had reported about a fire incident on February 4 which the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that no life was lost at the MRS filling station located at the Batchure junction, along Numan Road.

According to a statement via the command’s X handle, the efforts of the men of the fire service and its operational unit put the fire under control.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, Mr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, to defend himself in court rather than making claims through media engagements.

The Chief Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, made this statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
“Now that he is back in the country, the right place to prove his innocence and the propriety of his actions is by availing himself for the due process of law and not through a press conference,” Oyekanmi emphasized.

Yunusa-Ari, who is facing a six-count charge over his alleged unlawful role in the controversial Adamawa governorship election held on March 18, 2023, recently addressed the media in Bauchi, where he faulted his suspension by INEC and insisted that Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election.

The former REC was suspended in April 2023 by then-President Muhammadu Buhari after he declared Binani the winner while collation of results was still ongoing. INEC swiftly nullified his declaration and summoned him to Abuja, where his suspension was finalized.

In his latest remarks, Yunusa-Ari claimed he was denied a fair hearing and alleged that there was pressure to declare Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner. He argued that he had written multiple letters to INEC to explain his actions but received no response.

However, Oyekanmi dismissed Yunusa-Ari’s assertions, noting that the matter had already been resolved judicially. “The substantive matter of the 2023 Adamawa State governorship election has been determined through the appropriate judicial process, from the trial tribunal to the appeal tribunal, and finally settled by the Supreme Court,” he said.

The legal troubles facing Yunusa-Ari remain unresolved. In February 2024, the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a suit he filed seeking protection against arrest, detention, or prosecution. Justice James Omotosho ruled that Yunusa-Ari’s attempt to shield himself lacked merit.

In January 2025, the suspended REC requested the Adamawa High Court to indefinitely adjourn the case against him.

As the legal proceedings continue, INEC maintains that the courts remain the appropriate avenue for Yunusa-Ari to clear his name.
