The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Adedokun Oluyemi, the supervisor of Solution One Hotel, located in the Ago Oko area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

TheNigerian Online gathered that Oluyemi’s unconscious body was discovered in his hotel room around 6am on Saturday.

It was gathered that the bar assistant at the hotel, identified as Taiyelolu, reportedly found Oluyemi unresponsive after multiple attempts to reach him.

Concerned by the lack of response, she was said to have alerted the police at the Oke Itoku division.

According to the spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, there were no visible signs of violence on the deceased’s body.

She explained, “The report was made by a bar attendant, Taiyelolu, who, upon finding the door locked and after several unsuccessful attempts to gain entry, forced the door open and discovered Mr Oluyemi lying lifeless on the bed.

“Police emergency services, through the divisional police officer, were immediately dispatched to the scene, and Mr Oluyemi was transported to the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

“There was no mark of violence on his body when the team of first responders arrived at the hotel.”

Despite medical intervention, the police disclosed that Oluyemi was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

The command’s spokesperson added that the State Criminal Investigation Department would take over the case to conduct a thorough review of the preliminary findings.

“The body has since been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

“The police are actively investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to notify and support the bereaved family during this difficult time,” she said.

She also extended the command’s condolences, stating, “Till then, the command commiserates with the colleagues and family of the deceased while advising for medical insurance and checkups for staff.”

This incident follows a similar case reported by TheNigerian Online on March 7, when a 62-year-old hotel attendant, Abel Johnson, was found dead in his room at De-Lay Classic Hotel in Kajola Village, near Obafe Town.

Johnson was last seen the night before he was discovered lifeless in his room.

Tears flowed freely at the Ita Eku area of Igirigiri Road in Odo Ado, Ado Ekiti on Tuesday on seeing the lifeless bodies of a husband, said to be a policeman and his wife in a pool of blood in their residence.

Although it could not be ascertained whether the incident was an attack, sources told our correspondent that the couple must have killed each other going by the marks and cuts on their bodies.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said that people were attracted to the gory scene in the morning by the cries in the neighbourhood.

The source said, “I was only passing by in the morning when I saw people gathered there weeping and gnashing their teeth on seeing the dead bodies.

“The people said they were attracted to the scene by the cries. But nobody could say what happened and what was responsible.”

Another eyewitness, who was trying to conjecture how it could have happened, said, “Going by what I saw, it was as if they had an issue which nobody can ascertain yet. It is as if the woman cut off the man’s private parts and the man in retaliation inflicted a deep cut on her. Nobody can say, but to my mind, that is what I think.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said the law enforcement agency had begun an investigation into the matter.

Abutu said in a text message, “It is confirmed and an investigation has commenced to know the actual cause of their death.

“We are still investigating the incident. Meanwhile, their corpses have been deposited in the morgue,” the PPRO said.

A  lady identified simply as Lucy, who had gone missing on January 5, was found dead in her apartment located along the NNPC Road in Asaba, Delta State capital.

TheNigerian Metro gathered on Monday from a Facebook post shared by the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and Youth Mobilisation to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, that the body of Lucy was discovered by a member of her workplace.

He narrated that after the lady had become absent from work without communication, the management of her workplace sent someone to her residence to find out about her absence.

The person sent was said to have met the door of the apartment locked which prompted the co-worker to peep through the window.

The co-worker was said to have raised the alarm after seeing the lifeless body of Lucy which drew attention to the scene.

Gwamnishu said, “At her workplace, they started looking for her on January 5. They called her number and it was not going through. So, they sent someone to check on her and find out why she had not been coming to work.

“On getting there, she said the door was locked and she checked through the window and what she saw was the lifeless body on the floor naked and with blood everywhere.

“Upon investigation, it was discovered that there were marks on her body, her finger was caught with a knife and her hair was scattered on the floor which showed that she struggled. Lucy was allegedly murdered in her house.”

The SSA urged the Delta State Police Command to ensure justice was served on the matter and the perpetrators brought to book.

He also urged residents of the state to always report any threat to their lives to avoid situations such as this.

“Nobody knows who killed Lucy. We are just praying that the Delta State Police Command headed by CP Abaniwonda will do a thorough investigation into the matter.

“If anyone threatens your life, maybe you are a young girl living in Asaba and someone is threatening you and you don’t know what to do, please send me a DM. Do not take any threat as a minor threat. Take them seriously and report the person,” Gwamnishu said.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in an exclusive chat with our correspondent on Monday.

He added that an investigation had commenced into the matter.

“Confirmed and investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said.

The Kemta Divisional Police under the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday raised the alarm after a swollen body of 45-year-old Tolulope Olusanya, a tenant, was discovered late Monday night.

TheNigerian Metro exclusively gathered on Tuesday that the stench emanating from the swollen body permeated the residence, with the command suspecting that the deceased might have committed suicide.

The police said the landlord identified as Adebesin Adebayo had raised the alarm when the deceased was not seen around Shittu Street, Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta, for several days.

Following his concern, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the discovery to TheNigerian Metro, said Adebayo reported to the Kemta Divisional Police station around 8:15 PM on Monday.

Odutola stated, “Worried about her well-being, he went to her apartment and noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from inside. The door to her apartment was locked inside, prompting him to raise the alarm.”

Upon receiving the report, Odutola said detectives from the Kemta Division arrived at the scene and discovered that the apartment was still locked, and the foul odour persisted through the window.

“The officers broke into the apartment and found Olusanya’s body lying on the bed, swollen, suggesting that she had been deceased for some time,” Odutola added.

She added that efforts to transport her body to the nearest hospital were hindered by a lack of medical equipment to prevent potential infection.

Odutola further said attempts to collaborate with the local health authority and contact Olusanya’s family were unsuccessful, saying, “No immediate relatives could be reached.”

She, however, added that the scene was secured and cordoned off the area as police detectives continued their investigation.

A similar incident occurred on November 27, 2024, when a man named Fatai Hamzat was discovered dead in his apartment on Oremeji Street, Ijeun Tuntun, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

The deceased’s neighbour reportedly forced open the door after repeated knocks went unanswered and discovered Hamzat’s body hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling fan.
