Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, wrote a letter to airline operators on April 16, 2026, letting them know this.

Remember that airline operators had said they would stop flying or raise ticket prices by a lot if JetA1 prices went up from N900 to N3000 per liter.

Keyamo promised airline operators that the Nigerian government would step in to keep the industry from falling apart.

“I want to formally assure you that the federal government is fully aware of the concerns raised by your members and will take immediate action to address them.

So, a high-level emergency stakeholders’ meeting has been set for Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, in Abuja. It will bring together all the important people and regulatory authorities to find a quick, practical, and long-lasting solution. In due time, we will let you know where and when it will be held.
