It was recalled that in the party primaries on May 18, the former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, scored 113,309 votes to beat Nwoko, who scored just 2,612 votes.

Nwoko, in an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, disclosed that an automatic ticket was one of the entreaties offered by the APC to woo him and facilitate his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nwoko expressed surprise at the loss, noting that he was given repeated assurances by former APC chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, that he would be the party’s candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The Senator further alleged that the May 18 election was rigged in favour of Okowa stressing that there is evidence to prove that he was the rightful winner of the polls.

“I was definitely told before I came into the party that there would be an automatic ticket for me,” he said. Why would I just leave like that without making sure I have a safe ride?

“I and others were told that there would be discussions on the new structure of the party, and we believed there would be some power-sharing formula. We had meetings with leaders of the party and we were assured that there would be some sharing formula, power sharing formula. We were even told, for example, that the state EXCO would be dissolved and that there would be nominations to allow the old APC to get a foothold into the government.

“We won the primary. All Ifeanyi Okowa did was to present proof of just one ward where there was a problem. I was present. I have evidence. I’ve got the video. You cannot make an innocent person say, I am guilty. Impossible. We won in the primary in 98 wards. No, I could not have gained his ward. It would be a foolhardy thing for me to think I would win his ward.”

In remarks made during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office commissioning ceremony in Port Harcourt for the Rivers State chapter, Wike said that similar politicians will also be betrayed.

People will continue to betray you in life, regardless of your position—senator, member of the House of Representatives, minister, or governor, according to Wike. Your part is to betray.

“You won’t be able to speak on the day you are betrayed.” They will declare that so-and-so has passed away after you collapse and leave.

“You have planted that seed, and you will reap whatever you plant. You are sowing the seeds of betrayal that it will follow you wherever.

“You will never survive it, governors who are serving their second term, who have ambitions to install a successor, and who encourage treachery.”

In the meantime, Wike and the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have announced that governor support is not necessary for political figures in the state to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the opening of the organization’s Port Harcourt branch on Saturday, Wike reportedly made the statement.

The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who spoke at the occasion, emphasized that Rivers leaders have the political power and organization to independently mobilize support for the President.

We are assisting President Tinubu,” Wike stated. To organize us, a governor is not necessary. We possess everything it takes to function on our own. Senators, members of the Assembly, chairmen of local governments, members of the National Assembly, and party chairmen from the APC and PDP are all present.

“True political support comes from personal conviction rather than from outside guidance,” he continued.

True support doesn’t need to be brought by someone; you have to make the commitment yourself, which is why we have inspired ourselves to show our dedication,” he said.

Local leaders had proactively vowed their loyalty to the President, according to Wike, who further explained the development as a sign of togetherness among Rivers State’s political players.

Control of the South-South state’s political system has been a point of contention between Wike and Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State.

The factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Nname Robinson Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misleading party members into believing that he possessed the political capacity to wrest control of the state’s political structure from the FCT Minister.
Ewor alleged that Governor Fubara abandoned the PDP at the height of the party’s internal crisis, leaving members exposed amid the political turmoil.

Daily Post recalls that Ewor emerged as factional chairman of the PDP in January 2025 following the removal of the party’s former chairman, Aaron Chukwuemeka, by a Rivers State High Court.
Subsequently, the party appointed him as interim chairman to stabilise its affairs.

Following the controversial Ibadan Congress in November, 2025, the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP further appointed Ewor as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee in Rivers State in December 2025.
However, in a dramatic twist, Ewor, who had previously aligned with the PDP faction opposed to Minister Wike, has now shifted allegiance and is reportedly working in alignment with the FCT Minister.
Details soon…

Jackson Udom, Akpabio’s Special Assistant on Media, however, brushed the accusations aside as “beer parlour rumors.”
According to reports, the disgruntled party members wrote President Bola Tinubu an open letter outlining their grievances and pleading with him to step in before the Akwa Ibom party disintegrates.

Elder Okokon James of the Uyo Senatorial District, Peter Ibanga of the Eket Senatorial District, and Chief Victor Affiah of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District all signed the letter.
“Worrisome State of APC in Akwa Ibom State: A Call for Your Urgent Intervention” was the heading of the letter, which accused Akpabio of conspiring with PDP leaders to harm the state’s APC.

The signatories said that Ekperikpe Ekpo, the minister of petroleum, and Stephen Ntukekpo, the state chairman of the APC, had publicly acknowledged that they had obeyed Akpabio’s order to destabilize the party in preparation for the 2027 elections.

“As the founding fathers of the APC in Akwa Ibom, we have never witnessed this degree of self-centeredness, greed, treachery, and betrayal,” the statement continues. APC members are disillusioned because the state’s APC structure was sold to the PDP government.

We have learned that Senator Akpabio has been promised the support of the PDP for his third-term aspirations in return for this betrayal. There won’t be any party members left to welcome Mr. President when he travels to Akwa Ibom for the 2027 campaigns if immediate action is not taken.

The chieftains also denied reports that Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno was preparing to join the APC, claiming that APC officials were undermining their own party while Eno was bolstering the PDP.

“It is shocking that the APC structure in a state where the Senate President is from is in complete disarray,” they said. Akpabio hasn’t demonstrated much dedication to backing President Tinubu’s bid for a second term after joining the APC.

Before the 2027 election, they cautioned, devoted party members in the state would be compelled to join an opposition coalition if the APC national leadership does not act quickly.

“Baseless Allegations” is how Akpabio’s assistant dismisses claims.
Jackson Udom, Akpabio’s media assistant, responded to the accusations by dismissing them as a purposeful effort to sow division between the APC and PDP in Akwa Ibom.
The APC is still powerful in the state of Akwa Ibom. “Those who want to incite needless tension between the APC and PDP, led by Senator Akpabio, are making these accusations,” he stated.

According to him, Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno have a cordial working relationship, and as a result, their political rivals are circulating lies.

“Politics is far beyond these baseless accusations,” Udom continued. These people are now claiming that the APC has been sold out because of the peace and harmony that exist between Akpabio and Governor Eno. Let them hold off until the start of the campaign season.

Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, a former Secretary to the Government of Kano State, has expressed his frustration over the betrayal he experienced after supporting the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and its Kwankwasiyya faction.

“Alhamdulillah, I have completed my work safely, but unfortunately, we found ourselves with untrustworthy people.

“We contributed our fair share, but they betrayed us. I ask for your forgiveness and request that you wait for the right time, as we will soon speak up and reveal everything,” Dr. Baffa Bichi said.

He made this statement when he met with a group of young men and women who gathered to welcome him after his return from the holy land, where he had performed the Umrah pilgrimage.

Bichi emphasized that now is not the time to speak, but when the time is right, the youth will hear a variety of revelations.

“Thank you, and I also ask for your forgiveness. Now is not the time to speak, but we have written statements, audio, and video recordings. When the time comes, we will release them all,” he added.

He further stated that he would publicly expose the betrayal he faced to prevent others from being deceived by those who claim to be trustworthy but act otherwise. He described such individuals as people who speak of loyalty but fail to demonstrate it.
