Lagos socialite Okechukwu Chibuike Pascal, also known as Chiefpriest, has mocked Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.

It was said that Fubara announced his withdrawal in a statement personally signed by him on Wednesday night and captioned, “My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries.”

The Governor said his decision followed long conversations with family members, friends and political allies, adding that he would completely back whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate.

Fubara indicated that his choice was inspired by the necessity to choose peace, stability and unity in Rivers State above personal ambition.

‎“Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. There comes a moment when personal ambition must surrender to the larger good of the community. Rivers State is bigger than any individual, and at this critical period, the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state must take precedence over every personal interest,” he said.

Reacting to Fubara’s withdrawal, Chief Priest, in a post via his Instagram profile, stated Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, prevailed in the rift between him and the Governor.

The nightlife promoter emphasized there was an agreement and both sides must keep to it.

He wrote, “Wike won, agreement is agreement.”

Recall that claims made rounds online that Fubara had, during the peace accord with Wike, agreed to the condition that he would not be contesting for a second term in office if reinstated as Governor.

Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the loss of celebrity businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest in the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the House of Representatives.

Ejimakor said on his verified X handle on Monday that Cubana’s loss was a sign that Ndigbo, including those in APC, were not happy with President Bola Tinubu.

It had reported the loss of Cubana Chief Priest in securing the ticket for the APC House of Representatives for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State.

But the celebrity businessman said he never took part in the exercise after the party’s leadership adopted its zoning arrangement.

Reacting, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer said, “Cubana’s epic loss of the APC primary despite his open fraternity with Seyi Tinubu is proof that Ndigbo (including those in APC) are deeply unhappy with President Tinubu.

“So, it’s Tinubu that actually lost & it’s an early evidence of what will happen in 2027, as I had earlier foretold. And we all know the reason.”

Following the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State, celebrity businessman and popularly known as ChiefPriest, Pascal Okechukwu has broken his silence.

The City Boys Movement, Cubana, the Imo State Coordinator, was said to have lost his bid after pollin 14 votes.

Netizens ridiculed the nightlife promoter for not getting the APC ticket despite his backing of President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting to the outcome of the primaries, ChiefPriest in a video clip circulating online said his only regret was trusting the elders in his community.

“I am a hustler, and I did not regret trying to contest for a seat,” he said. My only regret was I trusted the elders in the community.

“I know how much I gave them but only 14 people voted for me in the primary”

ChiefPriest recently sparked discussions online sharing his opinion on politicians who have a large following on social media.

He emphasized that just because you are popular on the internet, doesn’t mean you’ll be successful in elections.

He said politicians who receive praise and support on social platforms often lose at the polls, while those who are heavily criticised online tend to come out victorious.

He shared this on his Instagram story where he talked about how online reactions are not what happens in real voting.

He cited Desmond Elliot as an example saying that even with the backlash he got online in the past, he still won his election.

Known by his stage name Cubana Chief Priest, celebrity socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu has declared his intention to run against Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.

The socialite declared his changing stance on Instagram amid a heated discussion with followers. The socialite had previously enthusiastically backed the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 elections.

The internet dispute was brought on by inquiries regarding his sudden political change and affiliation with the pro-Tinubu “City Boy Movement.”

He didn’t hesitate to answer a follower’s question about if he really planned to work against Obi in the upcoming election.

“Yes,” he answered, “I hope that it won’t be a crime because I worked for Obi previous election, including serving as a special adviser to an APC governor.

Critics of his remarks cited his prior problems with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.

Aligning with the current administration, according to others, would not protect him from scrutiny in the future.

In response, he dismissed the issue and boasted that going to the anti-graft agency is almost a sign of accomplishment.

He remarked, “You never make am if you never go EFCC for Naija.”

During the 2023 election, the debate later turned to the South-East and the issue of regional union.

Some comments said that Obi may have done better if he had had more support from powerful people in the area. Cubana Chief Priest replied aggressively, encouraging detractors to back whoever they choose and asking what real progress such sentiments had made in the South-East.
