President Bola Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to the veteran Nollywood actor, comedian, singer and scriptwriter, Mr Nkem Owoh, as he marks his 70th birthday anniversary.

President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, celebrated Owoh’s impact on Nigeria’s entertainment industry and his legacy as one of its most beloved figures.

Popularly adored by fans as “Osuofia”—a name immortalised by his iconic role in the blockbuster comedy series Ikuku 1 and 2 and ‘Osuofia in London’—Nkem Owoh has captivated audiences for decades with his wit and versatility.

As a trailblazer in Nollywood and TV drama, he has garnered numerous accolades, including the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 in the film Stronger Than Pain, cementing his status as a significant force in Nollywood’s golden era.

President Tinubu commended Owoh’s dedication to storytelling, which has entertained millions and showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the world.

“Today, we celebrate a true legend whose talent has brought joy to generations of Nigerians and Africans across the globe. Through his iconic roles, particularly as Osuofia, Mr Owoh has etched his name in the annals of our cultural history. He used laughter and creativity to reflect our society’s vibrancy and resilience.

‘His work has entertained and united communities through laughter and storytelling. I wish him continued health, happiness, and creative fulfilment in the years ahead.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, I wish Mr Nkem Owoh a joyous 70th birthday celebration. May his infectious spirit continue to inspire the younger generation of entertainers, who already love creating “content” on social media,” the President stated.

President Bola Tinubu has rejoiced with the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his 60th birthday on Sunday January 12, 2025.

President Tinubu commended Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering dedication and political consistency, beginning from his membership of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011.

Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga said Aiyedatiwa’s steadfastness throughout the party’s metamorphosis and final transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) exemplifies his loyalty, dedication, and commitment”.

Aiyedatiwa became deputy governor of Ondo State in 2021 but by a stroke of fate, he became the acting Governor and was ultimately sworn in as Governor in 2023, succeeding his mentor, late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“Aiyedatiwa’s impressive political trajectory is a testament to the potential and possibilities in Nigerian politics”, Tinubu remarked.

He further recognised the Governor’s unprecedented landslide electoral victory in 2024, which has allowed him to continue raising standards in key areas such as health and education, directly improving the lives of citizens.

Tinubu further commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s invaluable contributions as a Commissioner representing Ondo State at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“His deep understanding of grassroots development has played a crucial role in strengthening the institution to better serve its purpose,” the statement added.

As Governor Aiyedatiwa marks this milestone, President Tinubu prayed for God’s blessings, while wishing him good health, wisdom, and a long life.

Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has congratulated the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on her birth anniversary.

A frontline governorship aspirant and philanthropist, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has extended felicitations to Christians in Nigeria on the occasion of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

In a statement, Otunba Fayose also lamented the developmental deficit in his home state of Ekiti and assured the people that hope was on the horizon.

Fayose called on Christians in the country to imbibe the lessons and spirit of the season, which he said is a service to humanity.

“I am using the opportunity of the yuletide season to urge our Christian brothers and sisters as well as all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion to imbibe the spirit of love and service to humanity.

“Just like Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for mankind, we as citizens of Nigeria must always look out for one another in love and sacrifice in our collective efforts to make our country great in the comity of nations,” Otunba Fayose wrote.

Turning to Ekiti State, he said, “It is however unfortunate that the state has become an underachiever despite its numerous human and material resources.

“Though successive administrations have tried but Ekiti is not where it ought to be. Mass poverty, infrastructure deficit have become the order of the day.

“Despite all these, I am calling on all sons and daughters of our dear state as well as other residents to remain hopeful of better days that would come.

“While remaining hopeful, I equally urge them to also be reflective of where they will be casting their lots as we will be selecting a new governor come 2026.

“For me, the best assurance will be for all of us to make the right choice that would guarantee a positive future for us all.”

Otunba Fayose is currently leading other aspirants of the people democratic party (PDP) for the incoming governorship election in Ekiti State.
