This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
The operation, which was carried out on May 1, was conducted under the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, to a location within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, Ejodame said.
The target, he said, is a known logistics hub connected to a terrorist kingpin, Abasu Aiki and his fighters operating across the Faskari, Kankara and Funtua axis.
“Intelligence reports indicated the revival of terrorist activities in the area and that led to the strike.”
“NAF air assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles and other fighters within the enclave and simultaneously struck the location.
“The battle damage assessment confirmed several terrorists were neutralised and the logistics hub and associated structures were destroyed,” he said.
Ejodame said the strike caused explosions and widespread fires that further degraded the group’s operational capacity.
He said the operation had badly disrupted terrorist movement and re-supply in the area.
He said the development underscores the NAF’s determination to deny terrorists safe havens and disrupt their operational networks.
However, four people have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack on Aila Odugheho in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected armed herders.
The incident occurred Sunday morning while the victims were walking along the Aila Odugheho road to a nearby village, a local source said.
“The suspected herders ambushed the victims on their way to the community,” a resident who gave his name as Danny Uloko told journalists in a telephone interview.
The Fulani herders ambushed and killed the victims while they were on their way to a nearby community along Aila Odugheho road, Uloko added.
The names of the deceased, he said, were Ochefije Elijah Ojema, Igojuju Husaini, Odiya Ochowehi and Ochoyoda Adejo.
The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Melvin Ejeh, confirmed the attack, saying four people were killed.
Ejeh said armed herders have resorted to ambush tactics because security operatives are in the area and it has become difficult for them to invade some of the communities.
“The incident did take place today (Sunday morning), it is true. We lost four of our people.
“The security strategies we have put in place in the communities are robust now, making it difficult to attack and overrun any community in Agatu Local Government Area.
“So they have gone for ambush which is more difficult to deal with. However, operations to clear the community forest of bandits are ongoing,” he said.
Ejeh also said that security agencies including the Divisional Police Officer and local vigilantes were already in the area carrying out clearance operations.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said she had not received any report, adding that efforts to reach the Agatu Divisional Police Officer had been unsuccessful.
“I have not been able to get the DPO of Agatu on phone, so I’m yet to get the report,” she said.

The governor gave the caution at the Government House, Katsina, while receiving his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to seek re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The forms were reportedly presented by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Murtala Aliyu Kankia, under a consensus arrangement adopted by the party in the state.

“Consensus showed unity but we need to be careful and keep the foot on the pedal while speaking to party stakeholders,” Radda said.

“This is not the time to relax; anybody that believes that there will be no challenges in the coming elections is just deceiving himself,” the governor said.

He warned that complacency could cost the party at the polls and urged political actors to be alert and proactive.

The governor said the adoption of consensus candidacy was a sign of political maturity and unity among party members in the state.

But he pointed out that such unity needs to go beyond internal agreements, and be reflected in a stronger engagement with the electorate.

Radda called on the candidates who emerged through the consensus process to go back to their constituencies, reconcile with aggrieved aspirants and rebuild trust at the grass root.

He said continuous engagement with the electorate was still key to winning elections.

The governor further advised party faithful to be inclusive and responsive to the needs of the people.

He said the elections would be decided by reconnecting with constituents and resolving their concerns.

Radda also congratulated members of the consensus committees for what he described as a smooth and credible process, saying their efforts had helped strengthen unity in the party.

Earlier, the APC National Legal Adviser, Murtala Aliyu Kankia, stated that the distribution of nomination forms was done according to an agreed framework that maintained orderliness within the party.

“We have introduced and circulated the forms in a peaceful and friendly environment unlike in some states where the process becomes chaotic,” he said.

Kankia said reports had been received from the Katsina and Funtua senatorial zones while that of the Daura zone was being awaited.

Sani Aliyu Danlami, a member of the House of Representatives has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 election in Katsina Central Federal Constituency.

Danlami, who is serving his second term at the Green Chamber was defeated after days of intense consultations among party stakeholders and powerful figures.

Stakeholders are said to have settled for Abba Mangal, the son of billionaire businessman, Dahiru Mangal as the party’s flag bearer.

The outcome represents a major political shift in the constituency, considering the incumbency of Danlami and his existing grassroots support.

The decision followed extensive negotiations to reach a consensus acceptable to key stakeholders, party insiders told Daily Trust.

Naija News reports that political circles are reacting to the emergence of a legal practitioner, Abba Mangal, who had not publicly declared interest in the race before the decision.

Responding to the development, Danlami accepted the outcome of the consensus process and called on his supporters to remain peaceful.

The lawmaker in a statement urged party faithful to eschew violence and make unity a priority.

He stressed on the need for maintaining stability in the party and the state irrespective of the outcome of the exercise.

The consensus process took two days, from Tuesday to Thursday, and included several rounds of talks between aspirants and their backers, sources close to the process said.

The sources said the contest was keenly fought as several big names lobbied hard for the ticket.

Among those said to have jostled for the position are Lawal Amadu Joka, a former Aide-de-Camp to ex-governor Aminu Bello Masari; Haruna Maiwada; Ibrahim Ali Guguwa; Sani Danlami; and Hon. Abdurashid Abba.

Dahiru Mangal is generally regarded as a formidable force in the political landscape of Katsina for over 20 years.

His political career began with his support for the successful re-election of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua as governor in 2003.

He is now believed to have played a key role in shaping major political appointments and election results across the state.

But the arrival of Abba Mangal is the first instance where a member of his immediate family is in the running for elective office.

Police sources revealed that the event happened at approximately 5:50 p.m. on April 7, 2026, at Sabon Garin Garu hamlet in the state’s Musawa Local Government Area, according to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Muhammadu, a prominent bandit commander, was allegedly connected to the attackers, who were apparently in huge numbers and riding on roughly thirty motorcycles.

Five members of the Police Mobile Force (27 PMF) were reportedly traveling from Zamfara State through Katsina State when the gunmen ambushed their vehicle.

The attackers were forced to flee after police tactical teams, comprising patrol units and neighborhood watch organizations, responded quickly and engaged them in a gunfight.

During the gunfight, three of the cops were saved unharmed.

Nevertheless, the attack claimed the lives of two officers. They were identified as PC Abdulaziz Musa and Sgt. Bilyaminu Babangida.

A riot gunner and the officers’ service guns were also taken by the attackers.

According to the report, “the attackers also carted away the officers’ service rifles and a riot gunner.”

Later, police reinforcements from Dutsinma, Kankia, Matazu, and Kankara were sent in to block escape routes, and cordon-and-search operations are still in progress to find the suspects and retrieve the pilfered weapons.

Security forces said they had stepped up their efforts to bring peace back to the region and stop more attacks along the axis.
