Habibu Mohammed, the party’s spokesperson, stated in a statement that Kwankwaso has never threatened to quit the party over the candidates’ replacements.

The group called the conjecture “rumors.”

“Kwankwaso never made an NDC exit threat. The Kwankwasiyya Movement and its leader are not complaining, according to the statement.

According to reports, the Kwankwasiyya Movement would leave the party if loyalists who had previously been selected by the bloc were removed.

Recall that the rumors surfaced after the group substituted a number of candidates, allegedly violating an earlier power-sharing agreement. Mohammed denied the accusations.

The group’s spokesperson said that the winners were confirmed the same day and that the party primaries were held on May 29 in accordance with the Electoral Act and INEC regulations.

He claimed that the NDC members and stakeholders had previously decided on a consensus model when needed, adopted candidates in accordance with it, and presented the list without internal disputes.

Kwankwaso had not expressed any complaints to the party regarding the initiative, he continued.

He made the comments on Friday during an interview on Arise TV, where he also accused the ruling party of being out of touch with the realities facing Nigerians, especially the poor.

He said the Kwankwasiyya ideology was against such practices.

“The APC represents thuggery in Kano State. They represent most of so many things that are right in harm’s way to the masses, to people that are downtrodden, which our ideology seeks to protest,” he said.

He also levelled his criticism at the national level.

The policies of the APC-led federal government are not properly planned or considered for the well-being of the citizens, he added.

“We can see even on the national level, the policies rolled out by APC, the commander-in-chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, does not have an inch of feeling as to what happens when he rolls out policies,” he said.

He further alleged that the government brings in policies without proper assessment of how it will affect the Nigerians.

“They have never had a chance to do what’s called policy risk assessment,” he said.

He accused the party of behaving as if it owns Nigeria and forcing citizens to accept its decisions.

“These are the people that believe they own Nigeria, whatever they throw out, you must accept it,” he said.

He said that the Kwankwasiyya Movement feels it cannot work with the APC in any condition.

The spokesperson said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has his own baggages, which led him to the APC, but that there will be a time for more revelations on political decisions.

“We have found home in our relationship with Peter Obi… the years in between have helped us to understand ourselves,” he said.

The comments follow the accusation of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso working for President Bola Tinubu by the Kano State Director of Media, Sanusi Bature.

Mohammed told ARISE Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Friday that Kwankwaso and Tinubu have a long-term relationship and that the two have also worked together a number of times at the National Assembly. He said the two are the key figures that brought the All Progressives Congress (APC) to life.

Mohammed said Kwankwaso rejected Tinubu’s offer to work with him in the early days of his administration.

He said Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State, does not need anyone to push him to work with the President.

He said Kwankwaso had developed a working relationship with former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, even before his earlier defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He said: “In the early days of Tinubu’s administration, he invited Kwankwaso to a private meeting to discuss working with him, which Kwankwaso later revealed.

“But Kwankwaso rejected working with the Tinubu administration.

“Kwankwaso had already established a working relationship with the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi before his defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.”

In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Habeeb Saleh, the Movement’s National Coordinator, made this claim.

He asserts that Nigerians must have faith in the party and all of its candidates to consistently prioritize the nation’s interests.

“Believing in one Nigeria is the result of zoning the NDC presidency to the South.” In actuality, however, decisions are made that would inevitably stabilize the Nigerian people as a whole.

“That choice must be such that it fosters mutual understanding and trust between us.

Therefore, the NDC argues that all Nigerians must be on the same page in order to justify really allocating this presidency to the South. Additionally, they must be confident that the party and all of its members are acting in Nigeria’s best interests, he stated.

The statement was signed by the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, and issued on Friday, it was reported.

The group hailed the Supreme Court for its so-called bravery and clarity in dealing with the issue.

The movement said the ruling wiped out previous orders that had created confusion within the party and was a victory for due process.

It also said the ruling showed the judiciary’s role as a stabilising force in a democracy.

“The court has corrected the procedural irregularities which led to the artificial suspension of the party leadership and has thus restored order, reiterating the fact that institutions have to operate within the confines of the law,” it said.

The movement said that while the substantive case had been remitted to the trial court, the ruling had set the stage for justice and fairness in the next phase of the matter.

Group Nervous About Political Snag
The Kwankwasiyya Movement said it was studying the judgment thoroughly due to the short time remaining in the electoral cycle.

“We are at this critical juncture studying the judgment carefully and rigorously analysing its implications especially given the limited time within the electoral cycle,” it said.

The review was needed to prevent any situation that could interfere with the participation of its leader and other opposition figures in the 2027 elections, the group said.

It added: “This is necessary to ensure that we do not inadvertently fall into any political or legal trap that could undermine or prevent our principal and other key actors within the opposition from effectively participating in the 2027 general elections.”

The movement stated it was exploring legal and strategic options, including possible alliances with other political platforms.

“We are currently looking at all legal and strategic options available to remove any such barriers,” it said.

It cited the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) as possible grounds for engagement.

The group said its aim was to protect democratic participation and prevent Nigerians from being denied their right to vote.

“Our goal is clear: to protect our political rights, to preserve democratic participation and to make sure that no artificial circumstances can drown out the voice of the people,” the statement said.

Kwankwasiyya Movement told its followers that a decision on its political direction will be made in the near future.

It said: “An official position of our leader on a new political alignment will be communicated in no distant time.”

The group also emphasized the importance of strong institutions and citizen participation in order to sustain democracy.

“Nigeria’s democracy must be protected not only by the strength of its institutions but by the courage of its people to stand firm in the face of uncertainty,” it stated.

“We implore our members to remain calm and focused while consultations continue,” the group said, adding that the movement remains united and committed to the democratic process.

The group said it is working to make sure that no other candidate gets the party’s presidential ticket. Talks between the two sides are still going on.

Habibu Mohammad, the Kwankwasiyya Movement’s spokesperson, told the Daily Post in an interview that he was sure the alliance would come up with a joint ticket.

“We’re working together and talking to each other to make sure we get something done,” he said.

Mohammad said that Kwankwaso is willing to do anything that would help the party win in 2027.

“My boss, Kwankwaso, has agreed to let Obi take over.” He said, “He is ready for anything that will help ADC unseat President Tinubu.”

He went on to say that the former governor of Kano is willing to support any legal political arrangement that can challenge the current government.

The movement said that the alliance between the Kwankwasiyya and Obidient groups is meant to keep outside groups from having too much power in the party’s primaries.

“We’re not going to do things alone anymore; we’re going to work together.” “We’re not going to give in to any primary that isn’t credible,” Mohammad said.

He also said that some candidates might try to influence the process by offering money, but he stressed that the coalition would not allow this to happen.

The group also asked Atiku Abubakar to help bring the opposition together.

He went on, “We are praying and hoping that Atiku will be a father to us all so that we can keep giving him the respect he deserves.”
