President Bola Tinubu received a delegation of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the State House, Abuja on Tuesday.

The clergymen were learnt to be on a courtesy visit to the State House, Abuja.

The delegation was headed by the Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, Archbishop of Kaduna and President of the CBCN.

Elsewhere, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah has raised alarm over what he called relentless daily killings in Nigeria.

The cleric warned that the level and pattern of violence was not seen anywhere else in the world.

Kukah said this at the public presentation of a book titled The Man They Could Not Stop, written by Solomon Kumangar, former Director-General of Media and Communication to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, in Yola, Adamawa State.

Kukah lamented the frequency of killings across the country, saying the country had become dangerously polarised along religious lines.

“This is something that is happening in Nigeria that cannot happen in Sudan, Cameroon, Niger, Ghana or any country in the world,” Kukah said.

There is no other country in the world where 10 people are shot down on a Monday, 50 on a Tuesday, 100 on a Wednesday, and the shooting continues every week. “How can such a country move on?”

“Religious identities have become the lens through which violence is reported and understood,” he added.

The President directed the security agencies to trace the attackers and rescue the victims abducted and restore peace in the affected communities, it was reported.

According to reports, the attack claimed about 30 lives including women and children. Tinubu, who condemned the attack, gave the directive on Tuesday.

Several houses were also reportedly set on fire in the incident.

The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga described the attack as a barbaric and cowardly act against innocent residents.

“Tinubu warned that justice will not elude the perpetrators.

He said criminal elements bent on disturbing the relative peace and improved security in Kaduna State would be decisively dealt with.

The President also condoled the families of the victims, Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Government and the people of the state.

Tinubu assured the affected communities of the support of the Federal Government, saying his administration was committed to fighting insecurity in the country.

“I have directed the Armed Forces, police and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly, secure the release of abducted persons and restore normalcy to the region, the President said.

He said the government would continue to upgrade security infrastructure and equip personnel involved in responding to violent attacks.

“Our administration is committed to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel and neutralising criminal networks that are trying to disrupt the peace of the nation,” Tinubu said.

The President urged residents of the affected communities and the general public to support the ongoing operation by providing timely and useful information to security agencies.

“I call upon our local communities to assist security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would inform early response efforts,” he said.

Tinubu restated his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property and assured Nigerians that the ongoing operations to cripple criminal networks will continue across the country.

The Federal Government will continue to make efforts to restore peace and prevent further attacks in Kaduna and other parts of the federation.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris says the economic reforms set in motion by President Bola Tinubu are laying the foundation for long-term national prosperity and development.

The Information Minister disclosed this while receiving the leadership of the APC Forum of Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly (FOPSHA) led by its Chairman, Senator Wasiu Esinlokun on a courtesy visit in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He noted that the Tinubu administration has taken bold decisions that previous governments were unwilling to implement. “The removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market have strengthened public finances and created room for increased investment in infrastructure, education and other critical sectors.

“Only President Bola Tinubu has the courage, the vision and the will to scrap fuel subsidy. It was a difficult decision, but one that had been inevitable after decades of delay. “There is fiscal space for governments at all levels to deliver services to the people today,” Idris said.

He said that increased revenues had allowed state governments to meet their salary obligations and to undertake capital projects, noting that many states that had been in financial trouble previously were now in a better fiscal position.

The Minister said those who had been members of state legislatures were in a good position to communicate government policies due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.

“I am challenging the members of the Forum to use their experience and their grassroots outreach to intensify efforts to explain the policies and programmes of the administration of President Bola Tinubu to Nigerians at the grassroots.

“We want you to go down to the grassroots and tell the people about these policies and programmes of government and how they can help to deliver the Nigeria. “People need to understand better what these reforms are doing and how they are going to benefit the country in the end,” he said.

Idris also cited improvements in key economic indicators, saying Nigeria’s foreign reserves had crossed the $50 billion mark, while the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth had surpassed four per cent.

“For the first time in many years we have crossed the $50 billion mark in our foreign reserves and our economy is growing at over four per cent. “These are indications that the reforms are beginning to take effect,” he disclosed.

The Minister disclosed that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) had improved access to tertiary education, stating that over one million students had been retained in school through the initiative.

He also cited ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline and railway modernisation as evidence of the administration’s commitment to stimulating economic growth and improving living standards.

“Reforms are never easy; they bring challenges and sacrifices, but when the benefits begin to manifest, Nigerians will appreciate why these hard decisions had to be taken,” he said.

Earlier, Chairman of the Forum of Past and Present Scribes of the Holy Spirit (FOPSHA), Senator Wasiu Esinlokun, said the forum was committed to mobilising political support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the administration’s reforms as necessary to reposition Nigeria’s economy.

“Our first assignment is to contribute immensely to the success of APC and the re-election of President Bola Tinubu. That is the reason for our coming here to seek the cooperation and support of the Ministry of Information,” he said.

He backed the economic policies of the administration, which he described as bold interventions that saved the country from a deepening fiscal crisis.

“When President Bola Tinubu took over the mantle of leadership, Nigeria was at a very critical stage. “Many states could barely pay salaries, and the fuel subsidy was no longer sustainable, and it was making a few people rich at the expense of the majority,” Esinlokun said.

He said the removal of the fuel subsidy has significantly increased the allocations to the states, giving them more capacity to execute development projects and improve public services.

“What we are witnessing now is that many states are deriving a lot more from the Federation Account than before. “We expect that those resources are used judiciously for the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.

Esinlokun also lauded the reforms introduced by the administration in the foreign exchange market, education financing and infrastructure development, saying they showed a clear commitment to reposition the country’s economy.

“The government has been focused on and investing in infrastructure, education and economic reforms. These are long-term policies that will strengthen the Nigerian economy. “I am confident that the reforms will ensure sustainable economic growth and improve the welfare of Nigerians in the years ahead,” he said.

The Forum re-affirmed its commitment to mobilize grassroots support for the Renewed Hope Agenda through continuous engagement with Nigerians across the country.

President Bola Tinubu has described the emergence of Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN) as the new president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as a triumph for merit, excellence and gender inclusion.

In a congratulatory message to Badejo-Okusanya, the President said the new NBA president has distinguished herself with integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice and earned the confidence of her colleagues across the country.

The Federal Government (FG) has renamed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Tinubu, one of several major public facilities that now bear the president’s name since he assumed office in May 2023.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the decision on Thursday, stating that the 750-kilometre highway was named in honour of Tinubu because the project started during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State about 30 years ago.

According to Umahi, the idea of the coastal road came about 27 years ago, long before Tinubu became president.

The latest development comes on top of an expanding list of roads, public buildings, educational institutions and government facilities that have been renamed or built in the president’s honour over the past two years.

Latest Addition to Coastal Highway
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Federal Government, has become the latest facility to be named after Tinubu following the minister’s announcement on July 16, 2026.

The decision, he said, was in recognition of the president’s vision for the project which he said dates back to Tinubu’s administration in Lagos State.

Minna Airport Renaming
One of the first of Tinubu’s namesakes was the international airport at Minna in Niger State.

Governor Umar Bago in March 2024 renamed the Abubakar Imam International Airport to Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, saying the president has supported the state.

The move drew attention because the airport was only recently named after the late renowned writer, Abubakar Imam.

Southern Parkway renamed in Abuja
In May 2024, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, renamed the Abuja Southern Parkway Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.

The road linking the Christian Centre to Ring Road One in the nation’s capital, was renamed after being rebuilt.

Tinubu National Assembly Library
Also in May 2024, the National Assembly named its new library, just completed, after the president.

The facility that was started in the Ninth Assembly, and was completed by the Tenth Assembly, was inaugurated by Tinubu.

Technology Complex Immigration Names
In December 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service named its command and control centre after the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC).

The agency said the facility would serve as a critical center for border security, migration management and technological innovation for the service.

Establishment of Abuja Polytechnic
In January, 2025, the Federal Government also approved the establishment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja.

The institution was set-up to provide technical, vocational and entrepreneurial education.

Army Names Barracks For Tinubu
The Nigerian Army named its newly built barracks in Asokoro after the president in late January 2025.

The military said the decision was designed to “give respect to who respect is due.”

The facility also contains residential quarters, places of worship, sporting facilities and other operational infrastructure.

International Conference Centre Gets New Name
After the renovation of the facility in June 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Administration also renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC) as Tinubu International Conference Centre.

The conference centre, one of Nigeria’s premier venues for official functions and international events, also had some of its halls renamed after senior government officials.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway renaming is the latest in a series of at least eight major public infrastructure projects and institutions named after President Tinubu since he took office – a trend that has continued across his administration.

The abducted pupils and teachers from Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been released after spending more than 50 days in the custody of their abductors.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, in a post via his 𝕏 handle on Friday.

Onanuga said security forces rescued the teachers and pupils.

Also in the news, a joint security team comprising operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters have rescued a couple abducted by suspected kidnappers in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.

The victims, Alhaji Busiru Booni and his wife, Alhaja Pitiku, were rescued unhurt after a gun duel between the security operatives and the suspected kidnappers at their forest hideout.

Tiro Village in Irawo was reportedly invaded by about five armed men late on Saturday, July 5, 2026, and the couple was abducted.

The attackers were reported to have shot several times before abducting the couple to an unknown destination.

The Oyo State Police Command said the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, ordered the immediate search-and-rescue operation after being made aware of the abduction.

The operation involved police officers, Amotekun personnel, community vigilantes and local hunters who know the terrain.

As per the command, the team had an early break when they recovered a Bajaj motorcycle, which was reported stolen and later abandoned in a nearby bush.

In other news, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has described President Tinubu as a miracle worker.

He said no president in Nigeria has commissioned as many projects as President Bola Tinubu in the first three years in office.

The Senate President stated this on Thursday, during the commissioning of the Old Keffi Road from Kado Fish Market to Deidei, to mark Tinubu’s third year in office.

“I am here to represent the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the performing president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, and I am so honoured to be here,” Akpabio, who was representing Tinubu at the commissioning, said. “I have not seen any president in Nigeria who on his anniversary, 1st, 2nd, 3rd commissioned the number of projects that this president has commissioned across the country.”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and foremost cleric, has defended President Bola Tinubu against growing criticism over the worsening insecurity across the country.

Speaking about the concerns over the increasing wave of terrorism, kidnappings and violent attacks across the country at the US-Nigeria faith heroes award gala organized by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C. on June 23, Adeboye said Tinubu should only give instructions on how to deal with insecurity in Nigeria and cannot be blamed for failing to personally confront terrorists on the battlefield.
“I have to be clear about this one: I am not on the side of those who are saying the president is not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has issued instructions to his subordinates he has performed his part. “You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and (fight),” he said.

Adeboye, in comparing with the United States, said President Donald Trump was an example of how the commander-in-chief takes military decisions without personally engaging in combat.

“When my friend Trump tells you to go bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House.

“He has done his part. “‘I order, bomb Iran,’ and then he goes to his bedroom and sleeps. The rest is up to the supporters.”

The cleric, while defending Tinubu, admitted that Nigeria’s security crisis had worsened considerably, revealing that terrorist activities had spread from northern Nigeria to the southern part of the country including areas close to him.

“Things have gone far, far worse than before the bomb came,” he said, referring to the United States bombing of Islamist terrorists last December.

“The terrorism, kidnapping and all that which was in the north is now even at my doorstep. They’ve come all the way down to the south. And, of course, the sponsors, they are all known, and they are still walking about free.”

Adeboye said he had called President Tinubu and wife, Senator Oluremi, an RCCG pastor, personally to discuss Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

He said he pressed the president to give a stern ultimatum to military commanders across the armed forces.

I told them to tell all the military people: ‘You have 90 days. Get rid of this trash or leave.’ And then deal with the supporters, the sponsors.”

Adeboye said the real masterminds of terrorism were not the gunmen who perpetrated the attacks but the influential people who funded and armed them.

“You know them,” he said, referring to an earlier public appeal to the presidency.

Some of them are businessmen. Some of them are politicians. Go get them. Because if you do not go after those that are supplying these people with arms and ammunition, and most of the time when they go about they go about on motorcycles, if we do not go after the sponsors the problem will continue.”

Adeboye also called on the United States and other members of the international community to step up collaboration with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism.

Fighting insurgency, he said, was not fighting the fighters but targeting those bankrolling violent groups.

The call for the rescue of the pupils, students and teachers abducted by gunmen from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School and L.A Primary School (Esiele), all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on May 15, 2026, has been lent their voice by some musicians.

It was reported that 39 students and seven teachers were abducted and two teachers have been killed, sparking a national outrage.

Victony replied by calling on President Bola Tinubu to address the insecurity in the country and rescue all kidnapped victims, especially children.

Timaya, on his part, issued a statement urging the Presidency to take urgent steps to address the rising insecurity in the country.

“The Government is urged to show even greater urgency, collaboration and action to respond to the growing security challenges in many parts of our country,” the statement read in part.

President Bola Tinubu has narrated how he worked hard to become Nigeria’s President.

He says he encountered many difficulties before reaching his ambition.

This was disclosed by Tinubu on Friday when he received members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by Vice President Kashim Shettima on a Sallah homage at his Lagos residence.

He thanked some governors that started the journey with him, commending them for their patience and resilience.

I didn’t duck the bullet. I accepted it. I get a punch in the chin. Very hard one.

“We were together when I was faced with the challenge of trying to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It was very difficult. It was hard on the people with me. Some remained loyal.

“I chose to put in the effort to campaign. I told no one what I was going to do. “A lot of you took the risk and went ahead with me because of the party platform and everything,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tinubu said the removal of fuel subsidy prevented Nigeria from going bankrupt and helped to put the country on the path to economic recovery.

It was reported that Tinubu spoke when he hosted state governors who visited him to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festival and the third anniversary of his administration on Friday.

Governors of Lagos, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, Niger, Ekiti, Delta, Ondo, Edo, Adamawa, Benue, Enugu, Ogun and Kogi states were at the meeting. The deputy governors of Borno and Kano also attended.

The President, who spoke at the gathering, said the removal of subsidy had brought hardship to many Nigerians but insisted that the decision was necessary to save the country’s finances.

It was hard then, but we got through it. We were sued. We were accused. We got through it. It is bankruptcy that Nigeria has remained. The economy is recovering. It is rising. “Agriculture is booming,” Tinubu said.

He said the country was beginning to see the benefits of reforms introduced in the past three years. The President cited ongoing infrastructure projects and opportunities in agriculture as signs of improvement.

Many of you have survived and you have encouraged many of our people to persevere, to trust this government. “Thank you very much,” he told the governors.

Tinubu also thanked Nigerians for their patience in the face of the economic challenges trailing the reforms. He said the difficult period is slowly giving way to positive results.

Reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, social investment programmes, foreign exchange management and fiscal policies are helping to rebuild investor confidence and improve economic prospects, he said.

President lauded state governors for backing federal government policies and helping to ensure stability across the country.

I’m glad governors are not borrowing from the federal government and begging for interventions and not knowing how to survive, how to pay salaries. “You kept the spirit and you convinced our people to be patient and to bear these three years of painful reform,” he said.

“Critical economic indicators have improved and road construction and rehabilitation projects are ongoing across the country,” Tinubu said.

“The economy has come back. “Macroeconomic indicators are doing very well. “Roads and infrastructure are being built and abandoned projects have been rehabilitated,” he said.

He also expressed optimism on the future of the agricultural sector, saying Nigeria can achieve food security if available land resources are properly harnessed.

“The housing business is coming on very well. “Farming will flourish again. “If you use the land in your various states effectively, we will attain food sovereignty,” the President noted.

Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to pursue policies to reduce hardship, create jobs, strengthen food production and promote economic growth that benefits more citizens.
