All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the Ondo State National Assembly elections in 2027 have urged party members to accept the results of the party’s primary elections and refrain from protesting, emphasizing that winning the general elections requires unity.

The request was made on Friday in Akure after the candidates returned from Abuja, where the APC ended the uploading of results from its National Assembly primary elections.

Michael Akintomide, the APC flag bearer for the Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency, spoke on behalf of the candidates and urged disgruntled party members to maintain composure and respect the party’s supremacy, pointing out that the National Working Committee (NWC) had concluded the primary process in accordance with the party’s constitution.

There’s no reason to be agitated. For the sake of clarity, party supremacy exists and the National Working Committee has made a statement. You should disregard anything they post on social media that goes against the party’s stance. Even if there are protests, don’t join them. Have faith in the procedure. Credible candidates have been developed via the approach, according to Akintomide.

He reiterated that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is still in charge of the APC in Ondo State and conveyed optimism that the governor and the party leadership would collaborate to fortify the party before the 2027 elections.

In response to worries that the APC’s electoral prospects would be impacted by differences resulting from the primaries, Akintomide characterized such arguments as a typical aspect of internal party fights.

“People have the right to express their displeasure. However, at the end of the day, we shall come to the round table and grasp that the party is higher than every personal interest. We’ll all unite as one and win,” he continued.

Speaking as well, Jimi Odimayo, the APC’s nominee for the Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, urged party supporters to support every candidate that emerged from the primaries, claiming that despite the rivalry throughout the nomination process, the APC remained a single family.

Odimayo expressed gratitude to Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of the Interior, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the APC National Working Committee for their contributions to the smooth running of the primary polls.

“I suggest that all party members embrace the party’s candidates. I suggest that they band together and contribute to the party’s advancement. We get along so well. “It’s a single family,” he declared.

Olumuyiwa Asagunla, director-general of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) in Ondo State, stated that the purpose of the candidates’ welcome was to express gratitude to President Tinubu and the APC National Working Committee for their support of the party in the state.

According to him, the organization has continued to mobilise, sensitise and empower communities across Ondo State since its inception in March 2024 and is optimistic that the APC would improve on its electoral performance in the 2027 general elections.

Asagunla ascribed the optimism to the Tinubu administration’s accomplishments and the development projects that Ondo State has been drawn to.

He, however, highlighted the need for reconciliation within the party, urging members to place the APC above personal goals and work together to ensure success in the 2019 general elections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded the list of candidates for the 2027 general elections and refused to review its just concluded primaries, notwithstanding the petitions and protests by aggrieved aspirants.

Punch’s findings revealed that the ruling party had completed work on the results sent to its national secretariat and was prepared to upload the names of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

The development effectively slammed the door to further appeals and calls for fresh primaries by members who had alleged manipulation and imposition during the exercise.

The APC, according to a principal official of the party and another member of the National Working Committee (NWC), said it had not altered nor was it considering reviewing the results of the primaries.

“We are not analyzing the results of the primaries in reverse,” the chief official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. The time for primaries and appeals is long gone. Waiting for the code to upload the results of the primaries winners.

All was settled. We do not know what review they are talking about.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 26 for the release of access codes to its nomination portal and July 11 as the deadline for the submission of candidates’ particulars for the 2027 general elections.

Tickets for lawmakers
At least 54 serving federal lawmakers, including ranking senators and members of the House of Representatives, failed to get return tickets during the APC primaries held from May 16 to 18.

Many aggrieved aspirants, particularly those who were left out in Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau and Osun states, have petitioned, threatened to take legal action and called for fresh primaries.

The APC chieftain was asked about reports submitted by the party’s primary election appeal panels and the APC chieftain said the appeals did not significantly change the outcome of the primaries.

From what I’ve seen, the appeal reports didn’t change any of the primary results significantly because a lot of the petitions were found to be frivolous,” he said.

But any well made appeal would have been looked at. Some of the appeals are about zoning matters that are pre-primary issues.

“Some are talking about clearance, that somebody did not resign properly from the PDP before joining the APC. Is that a basis for challenging our primaries? “Those are petty issues that people brought up in their petitions.”

INEC Code awaits party
After the primaries, the party official said that most constituencies did not have appeals.

He added, “There are 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies, with thousands of House of Assembly seats. I can tell you in most of these constituencies there is no appeal.

‘And where does the main review report come from? The results to be announced might not differ from what is already known.”

Senator Jonah Jang, a former governor of Plateau State, has described the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries as credible, transparent and democratic.

Jang was reported to have said the exercise was a sharp contrast to “results written in hotel rooms” by other political parties.

The elder statesman said this in a statement released on Friday through his Media Consultant Comrade Clinton Garuba.

Jang praised the PDP for the successful holding of its primaries nationwide especially in Plateau State.

The party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Plateau emerged as the Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs.

The former governor said the smooth conduct of the primaries was a manifestation of the party’s organisation, unity and commitment to internal democracy.

“There is no doubt about it, the difference in approach, planning and execution as seen during the primary elections of the PDP and that of the other political party was like day and night,” he said.

“The PDP is open to all members and allowed their wishes to prevail through a transparent process,” Jang said. He said some other parties resorted to imposition, impunity.

“In those parties, ‘results were merely written in hotel rooms despite elections held on the field,’ he said.

The former governor said the PDP had again proved its commitment to democratic principles and respect for the will of the people.

Jang also cautioned those posing as factional members of the PDP in Plateau State to desist from acts that could destabilise the party.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has declared Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat as winner of its primary election for the Kano State governorship race after defeating his fellow aspirant, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, the son of former Head of State, Sani Abacha.

The result announced by the chairman of the election committee appointed by the PDP national leadership, Hon. Umar Danjani Hadejia showed that Muhammad Bello Dalhat got 2,233 votes to emerge winner of the contest.

He received 749 votes in the primary election.

The statement said: “With the total votes collated, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat has polled the highest number of votes and declared winner and the PDP governorship candidate for Kano State.

President Bola Tinubu has scored a clean sweep in Mafa Ward, Borno State, in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum’s home ward is Mafa Ward, it was learnt.

The direct primary was held at Mafa Central Primary School and was supervised by the Chairperson of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Hajiya Inna Alkali Imam.

The total valid votes cast in the ward was 2,175, of which Tinubu got 2,175 votes. His challenger, Stanley Osifo, an APC chieftain and businessman from Edo state, scored zero votes.

Mafa Ward has registered 2,277 APC members and 2,175 members accredited for the exercise.

Zulum, who is the Coordinator and Collation Officer for the presidential primary in Borno State, said he was in Mafa to witness and take part in the exercise.

“I am from Mafa Ward and that is why I am here to witness and be part of the exercise. “We have two candidates, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr Stanley Osifo,” Zulum said.

The governor also voted and was pleased with the way the primary was run and the party members’ participation.

“So far so good we have conducted the presidential primary election for Mafa ward and I am very impressed with the turn out. “We have about 2,277 registered party members in Mafa ward. We accredited 2,175 for the voting and all voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the other candidate scored zero,” Zulum said.

The APC presidential primary is on in full swing across the nation. The party will declare the final result at a later date.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has debunked social media reports that it has adjusted its timetable for the 2027 primary elections.

The clarification was in a press statement on APC’s official page.

The statement says there is no change to the dates previously announced for the primary elections.

The APC said the primary election for the House of Representatives would hold on Friday, May 15, 2026 and that of the Senate would hold on Monday, May 18, 2026.

The party also disclosed that the primary election for the State House of Assembly would hold on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, while the governorship primary would be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The statement indicated that the presidential primary election will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

“This clarification has become necessary following the circulation of false and misleading reports on social media and other communication platforms suggesting otherwise,” the party said.

Dr. Wole Oluyede, the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Ekiti State governorship primary, has stated that he intends to appeal the Federal High Court’s decision to nullify the exercise, calling it unfair and procedurally faulty.

Oluyede said through his attorney, Owoseni Ajayi, that an appeal will be filed as soon as possible, along with a request for a stay of execution to avoid holding a new primary right away.

He emphasized his resolve to pursue every legal option in order to get his candidacy acknowledged and his name added back to the list of qualified candidates for governor in the June 20, 2026 election.

The appeal follows the Federal High Court’s Ado Ekiti Division’s Tuesday ruling that the November 8, 2025, PDP primaries were unlawful.

Funso Ayeni, a candidate who contested the primary on the grounds that the party did not provide an authentic list of statutory and ad hoc delegates utilized in the exercise, won the case before Justice Babs Kuewumi.

In his ruling, Justice Kuewumi mandated that the PDP work with the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to hold a new primary in accordance with the party’s constitution and the law, with participation open to all eligible candidates.

Oluyede maintained that the court’s finding does not represent the fairness and legality of the initial exercise, even though it provides the legal foundation for a new primary.

He said that the nullification threatens both internal democracy and party members’ rights and that his primary victory was legal.

Oluyede has promised to fight hard after being left off of INEC’s official list of candidates for governorship, which was released on December 29, 2025.

Before the 2026 election, Ajayi declared, “We will ensure that justice prevails and that Dr. Oluyede’s rightful position as PDP’s governorship candidate is restored.”
