Fidelis Ilechukwu, has been tipped to take over the technical adviser role at Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Plateau United.

Ilechukwu is currently the technical adviser of Rangers.
According to reports, Ilechukwu is favoured to help stabilise Plateau United.

Young tactician Oluwasola Adegun has struggled to steady the performance of the Peace Boys in the first round of the season.
Adegun is expected to assume a new role in the technical team with the imminent arrival of the new technical adviser.

Ilechukwu won the NPFL with Rangers during the 2023-24 season.

Nasarawa United technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut has promised that his team will return for the second stanza of the season with more hunger.

The Solid Miners, who battled relegation for the majority of last term have impressed in the NPFL this season.
Nasarawa United finished the first stanza in fourth position with 32 points.

The Lafia club ended 2025 with a 3-0 loss to Kano Pillars.
“We have had a great run, and this setback won’t deter us, We will return with a vengeance and show everyone what we are capable of,” Mangut told the club’s media.

The experienced tactician is adamant that his team will show more quality in the second stanza.

West Ham United have offered Viktoria Plzen €5m for the signature of Rafiu Durosinmi, according to iSport.

The Nigerian has caught the eye with his impressive performances for Viktoria Plzen this season.
Durosinmi has netted 13 times in 30 matches across all competitions for the Czech club.

Plzen reportedly rejected the bid with the €5m fee deemed not sufficient to sanction the striker’s sale.
The 22-year-old is open to the idea of playing in England.

West Ham could, however, shift their attention elsewhere in case they fail to tempt Plzen to sell the forward.

Manchester United  legend, Peter Schmeichel hopes his old team will continue their good recent performance and achieve a much better result in the Premier League this season.

The last campaign was a big setback for the Red Devils because they ended up in 15th place in the top league and did not win any trophies.
That has left them without any European competitions this season, and after a surprising early departure from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Grimsby Town, they now have just the league to focus on.

Ruben Amorim’s team is currently sixth in the league, just three points behind the fourth place.
A victory against Newcastle United last time means they are now tied on points with Chelsea, who are in fifth place, so there’s some positive feeling coming back to Old Trafford.

Iconic goalkeeper, Schmeichel, is not getting too excited, but he believes they can keep up their current level and end the season in a similar position as they are right now.
“I think fifth or sixth. Fifth place is good, but they’re competing with a few other clubs that are also doing really well,” the Dane said on ViaPlay.
“But I think that’s the level Manchester United are at. With the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, they should be able to finish around fifth or sixth,” he said.

When asked if he would be happy with that position, he said, “If fifth place gives them a chance to play in the Champions League, I would be very happy.”
However, it is still uncertain whether fifth place will be enough for a spot in the Champions League next season.
Schmeichel was with Liverpool’s former star Jan Molby, who was not very confident about United’s chances of getting back into European competitions next season.

“I think they’re pretty capable of finishing somewhere between fifth and tenth,” said the former midfielder.
“I think that’s the issue with Manchester United’s season. You keep thinking about the next game, and if they win, it’s a good season, but if they lose, you’re back to where you started.”

Former Manchester United star, Roy Keane, says he is having a hard time understanding Ruben Amorim’s team.

Keane is feeling a bit hopeful but not really impressed by their performance so far this season.
Despite the team winning 1-0 victory against Newcastle on Boxing Day, the Irishman said that what worries him is the Red Devils’ inconsistency.

He told Sky Sports, “I’m not convinced,” adding that the Red Devils cannot finish within the top four spot in the Premier League.
He channeled the blame to the manager Ruben Amorim, who he believes should do better having had a pre-season and made some signings in the summer.

Keane also believes that not playing any European competition this season should have been an added advantage to his former club.
“We are still waiting. The question marks are still there for me, we talk about the top four but they aren’t ready for that.
“Man United just need to be better. We aren’t going to say they’re as good as top defensive teams like Arsenal, but they still need to improve.

“I still think that whenever I watch Man Utd, even though they play well offensively, other teams seem to make good chances very easily. If you want to improve as a football club, you need to be more difficult to beat.
“They need to make changes or we’ll keep discussing the same issues over and over.
“If they keep missing chances and failing to score goals the way they are, they’ll never move forward,” he said.

Former Liverpool man, Jamie Carragher also said the Red Devils cannot make the top four, but he thinks there’s no reason why they should not  qualify for Europa League or the UEFA Conference League.
The ex-Liverpool defender said, “I don’t think they’ll end up in the top four, but they still need to qualify for Europe.
“The standards are really low now since last season. They used a lot of money during the summer. They need to be in the position they are in the table, which means they qualify for Europe.
“The Champions League would be a big leap beyond what’s possible. They were really good at Aston Villa.”

Plateau United supporters have called for the disengagement of their technical adviser, Oluwasola Adegun following series of poor results.

The Peace Boys fans were carrying placards with inscription “the coach must go” during their matchday 19 fixture against Abia Warriors in Jos on Sunday.
Plateau United suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Umuahia-based side in the encounter.

Plateau United have recorded six wins, one draw and 12 defeats in 19 matches under the guidance of the young tactician.
They finished the first stanza in 19th position with 19 points.

Meanwhile, the fans also called for improved welfare for the players.
Plateau United are expected to improve on their performance when the take on Abia Warriors in the reverse fixture when the second stanza begins.

Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott has predicted the outcome of the Premier League clash between the Gunners and Manchester United on Sunday.

The Englishman is backing his former team to win the game, predicting a goal from Gabriel Martinelli.
He also predicted Arsenal to dominate possession in the game.

Walcott said it’s Called Soccer! Podcast, that the Gunners defense would do the job.
“I will go for a 1-0 win for Arsénal and I’m going for a Martinelli goal,” the former England international said.
“I think they’re going to expose United [with a] domination of having the ball and I just think it’ll be a break goal and Arsénal’s defence [will be] pretty solid.”

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season, losing the title to Liverpool. The Gunners are expected to be contenders for the trophy this season.
Meanwhile Manchester United had a season to forget last term. The Red Devils finished the season in 15th position. They have signed some top players this summer and are fighting for at least a top four finish.

Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, has said that he thought the club would win the Premier League title when Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane joined the club.

The England international said this while sharing his thoughts on Ronaldo’s second stint at Old Trafford and detailing the circumstances that led to the 40-year-old’s sad end at the club.
Ronaldo joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2003 and became one of the best players in the world under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He later left for Real Madrid, played for Juventus and made a sensational return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.
At the time, Manchester United had just finished in second position on the Premier League table under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Maguire hailed Ronaldo’s individual brilliance despite the club’s poor form.

United endured a difficult 2021/22 season, finishing sixth on the Premier League table. Despite the disappointing finish, Cristiano Ronaldo was able to score 24 goals in 38 appearances across competitions.
“I can’t speak a bad word about him,” Maguire said. “It was amazing to have him. Even when he just walked in through the door, it was incredible,” the Englishman said.
“It was just so disappointing how it ended and how we couldn’t find a way to perform with him in the team. He was performing, he was scoring goals. It was crazy, I don’t know how many he scored that year. We were rubbish and he was still scoring goals. It just shows how good he is.

“Our system under Ole was all about being on the front foot, being aggressive, pressing. It was all about pressing like a machine. We weren’t the best team, we finished second and third.
“We had some great players, don’t get me wrong, but it was all about tactics and working to maintain a shape.
“Obviously Cristiano came in and we just didn’t adapt well enough for him, and you could tell he was just so upset and frustrated.

“It was a season where everyone was so frustrated. We couldn’t believe what happened, we obviously finished second and third and then that season we bought Raphael Varane and Cristiano. You’re thinking, ‘here we go, let’s go and win the Premier League now.’
“And it just never happened, never clicked and we lost Ole, which was disappointing. I felt like Ole did an unbelievable job. I’ll speak more about him when I’ve retired, but the way he set us up in those two years, that was the best I ever felt in a team.
“It had nothing to do with Cristiano because, like I said, he was our best player that year by far. The tactics around him just didn’t work,” Maguire said.
Cristiano Ronaldo ultimately left Manchester United in December 2022 following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
