Tears as Slain NURTW Official Ajiboye Is Buried in Lagos

Toba Ajiboye, popularly called Toba Ijaya, the Organising Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has been buried.

Ajiboye was recalled to have died after he succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained after unidentified gunmen attacked his vehicle in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State.

Ajiboye was attacked while returning home from his childhood neighbourhood at Fadeyi.

They reportedly waylaid his vehicle along the Ikorodu Road corridor and opened fire on it, leaving it riddled with bullets.

But on Tuesday, family members, colleagues, friends and supporters flocked to Ketu, Lagos to pay their last respect to Ajiboye.

Photos posted to social media showed large crowds of mourners as the slain union leader was laid to rest.

 

Meanwhile, the Lagos Police Command has commenced a manhunt for the unidentified gunmen who killed Ajiboye.

The state Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, who spoke with Vanguard on the development, confirmed that investigation has commenced to arrest the perpetrators while security personnel have been deployed to strategic locations to prevent any breakdown of law and order across the state.

Investigation is ongoing to get the perpetrators, the Command has also deployed to strategic locations to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order”, Adebisi said.
