The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of being primarily interested in the state’s resources.
The party made the allegation through its Publicity Secretary, Chizzy Enyi, in a video shared on social media.
Enyi was reacting to comments by Wike during an interview with TVC News concerning reconciliation efforts involving Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and members of his former political group.
Wike said Fubara had demonstrated sincerity by carrying out requests made as part of efforts to resolve the political disagreement.
He specifically mentioned the submission of the list of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council before Fubara travelled to the United States.

However, Enyi interpreted Wike’s comments differently, accusing the former Rivers governor of exercising excessive influence over the state’s affairs.
The ADC spokesman alleged that Wike had positioned himself as the de facto chief executive of Rivers State.
He further claimed that Wike’s interest in Rivers was focused on the state’s resources.
According to Enyi, Wike’s statement about the actions taken by Governor Fubara showed the extent of his influence over the administration.
He said the situation could not continue indefinitely and expressed confidence that it would eventually come to an end.
The remarks come amid continuing political disagreements and reconciliation efforts involving political actors in Rivers State.
The ADC has been critical of the relationship between Wike and the current Rivers administration, while Wike has continued to speak publicly about developments in the state.
The latest exchange adds to the political debate over the extent of Wike’s influence in Rivers State and his relationship with Governor Fubara.
Neither Wike nor his representatives were quoted in the report as directly responding to Enyi’s latest allegation.
