Prince Olalekan Shekoni Hamed Alo of Abijo Community ,Sues Speaker Honourable Member Noheem Adams and Chairman of House Committee on Rules and Business as well as a Majority Leader over meddling into his land allocation
In a Law suit which borders on a clear case of Separation of Powers and why the Lagos State Committee Members are acting ultra vires by trying to forcibly collect and or revoke his allocation for land which was bonafide granted by the Governor of Lagos State, the Abijo Prince of Ibeju Lekki, has filed a Law suit on violation and Breach of Sections of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution ( as Amended ),which illustrates that his Fundamental Right to Own Private and Immovable Property, and going by the fact that he only solicited the Lagos State Government in Private capacity alongside his cousin Muyiwa,Prince Ahmed Olalekan Shekoni Alo Sued the Speaker and Honourable Noheem Adams and other Community, Members Maintains they are acting as Meddlesome Interlopers over Land which was allocated lawfully to him and his Cousin by the Lagos State Governor.
He also stated that the House of Assembly do not have right to revoke his land allocation, without notice or without violating any known offence.
The land which was allocated to Prince Ahmed Olalekan Shekoni Alo by the Lagos State Government,is situate at Abijo and he is also a direct descendant of the lineage of those who traditionally and historically first settled and founded Abijo Community and he is also the Head of Gbadamosi Alo Chieftaincy Family of Abijo.
In the Law suit brought before the High Court of Justice of Lagos State ,with suit number YSD/22655/MFHR/2026 attached are several documents showing that the said parcel allotted to the Applicant wherein he complied with statutory requirements of the grant of a certificate of occupancy from government alongside his allocation letter and survey and also proof of payment of statutory fees paid legally to Lagos State Government for the said land allocation.
Also several documents including a Judgment Showing that the 6th Respondent Olashehu Adams Father ,was once confirmed not to be a citizen who hails from Abijo community, as well as several other evidence showed that the Abijo community and the 1st to 6th Respondent’s had already signed a Memorandum and Pact with the Lagos State Government that they wont disturb any Allottee of the Government which by virtue extends to the Land Titles given to Prince Olalekan Hamed Shekoni Alo an Allottee of Lagos State.
Amongst those Sued in the said law suit are Alhaji Hakim Oseni,
Mudashiru Adesanya
Talibi Salawu,
Aljumah Olokoba-
Nosiru adegbite, who are all from the Abijo Community the 1st to 6th Respondent’s who are joined alongside the Commissioner of Police,Lagos State and the Attorney General of Lagos State and the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, Praying the Court to Ensure Restraining all parties to stay action over all matters presently presided over by the House Committee on Business and Rules Led by Honourable Noheem Adams as well as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Prince Ahmed Shekoni Alo alleged that he was constantly told to report with or without notice to the house floor where he was grilled like a criminal and was dehumanized and ridiculed by the House Committee on Rules and Business who asked him how he got funds to get the allocation? and also mocked him on the house floor and planned to revoke the land by using legislative powers to compel the Lands Bureau , Surveyor General, Executive Secretary of Lands,NTDA, Registrar of Title, etc.
That it is of particular interest that one Olashehu Adams whose late Father who was pronounced as not being a citizen of the community, also instigated his family member and a Majority Leader of the House one Honourable Noheem Adams and who doubles as the Otunba of Ogombo, Olashehu Adams, has been going about boasting that with his Uncles influence in the house of Assembly, they would use the guise of a resolution to takeover the allocated land from Prince Olalekan Ahmed Shekoni Alo but with the filing of this law suit, more light would be thrown on the fact that is it possible for the Legislature to Override the Executive Duty or Order?
Is Separation of Powers no more in existence?
Who has powers to grant land in the State?
Is it the Governor or the House of Assembly?
Does the Legislature possess Constitutional powers to revoke a Certificate of Occupancy issued bonafide by the Governor, going by the rules of the Land Use Act of 1978?
We will follow this law suit as the court case gets into full gear.
