President Bola Tinubu has challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to explain how he funded the construction of his university while serving in government.
He accused him of being part of the leadership responsible for Nigeria’s economic problems.
Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while responding to criticisms of his administration over hunger and economic hardship.
The President dismissed those blaming his government for the country’s difficulties.
“Atiku was part of the government that managed the economy, so Nigerians should ask him where he got the money to establish his university while serving as vice president,” he said.
“Ask him how he built the university while he was serving as vice president and in charge of our economy. Who built the university for him? It was your money and your effort,” Tinubu said.
The President also questioned Atiku’s moral standing to criticise his administration.
He described him as a person who lacked the integrity and ethics expected of public office holders.
