President Bola Tinubu has described the emergence of Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN) as the new president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as a triumph for merit, excellence and gender inclusion.
In a congratulatory message to Badejo-Okusanya, the President said the new NBA president has distinguished herself with integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice and earned the confidence of her colleagues across the country.
Tinubu was said to have congratulated Badejo-Okusanya in a statement on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, for her historic election as the first elected and second female President of the NBA.
He said the emergence of Mrs Badejo-Okusanya is a testament to the growing appreciation of the invaluable contributions of women to nation-building and the administration of justice and expressed confidence that her leadership would further enhance the legal profession by upholding the rule of law and promoting reforms that would improve access to justice for all Nigerians.
President Tinubu urged the new NBA President to work with all stakeholders to promote judicial reforms, protect the sanctity of the Constitution and uphold the legal profession as a critical pillar of a democratic society.

The President wished her a successful tenure and assured her of his administration’s commitment to continue to work with the Nigerian Bar Association to deepen democratic governance, promote justice and build a more prosperous and united Nigeria.
President Tinubu also charged the new NBA president to make efforts to rectify issues that arose during her election.
I heartily congratulate the President-elect of the NBA on her victory. Mrs Badejo-Okusanya has made a niche for herself as the first female elected president of the Association of Lawyers in Nigeria. Our women have again demonstrated that they can reach any height in their quest for excellence in their professions and ambitions in the private sector and public service.
“I encourage you to reach out to the other contestants, to unify the bar and work to fix problems that came up during your election.
“I wish you a successful tenure and service to the legal profession and our country as a whole,” the President said.
