Tanzanian music stars Diamond Platnumz and his wife, singer Zuchu, have broken up, with the award-winning songstress confirming the couple are now separated and in divorce proceedings.
The news was announced by the singer in a heartfelt message posted to her Instagram Story on Sunday, putting an end to months of speculation about the status of their relationship.
The singer, who is also signed to Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi record label, didn’t give the exact reason for the split. But she hinted that as they tried to make the marriage work, circumstances had taken them in different directions.

Zuchu said she had been with her partner for six years, and had made the decision to put herself first, adding that she now wanted to focus on healing, her health and her music career.
“I have finally made the decision to choose myself. “Now it’s time for me to heal and focus more on my health and career. Now my husband and I are divorced and going through a divorce. “I say this with a heavy heart,” she continued.
The couple dated for about 5 years before finally tying the knot in June 2025, becoming one of East Africa’s celebrated celebrity couples.
After the announcement, Diamond Platnumz ex-partner, Ugandan socialite Zari Hasan, responded to the news. Zari, who previously broke up with the singer over claims of repeated cheating, praised Zuchu for staying in the relationship as long as she did.
Diamond Platnumz has not addressed the separation publicly, but news of the break-up has sparked a flurry of reactions from fans in East Africa, many of whom have expressed sadness at the end of one of the region’s most high-profile celebrity marriages.
