Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State after losing the All Progressives Congress, APC’s ticket.
Adelabu announced his withdrawal in a statement personally signed by him on Thursday, titled, ‘APC Nomination Process in Oyo State: Closing the Contest, Not Conceding the Injustice’.
The former minister said his exit from the race did not mean he was conceding the alleged injustice that marred the party’s governorship primary in the state.
He rather ascribed his decision to serious reflection and a strategic reappraisal of recent developments in the party and the road ahead.
The former minister said he took a short break abroad after the “intensity and challenges” of the last few months before returning to consult with party leaders and supporters.

He said he met party leaders and some of his supporters across the state on his return, noting that the meetings discussed concerns raised by party members, aspirants and stakeholders. The worries also relate to nominations for senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly, he added.
“We have agreed that the lack of publicly declared and verifiable results has understandably given rise to serious concerns about the transparency, credibility and integrity of the nomination process.
“We have also verified the existence of voluminous documentary materials, duly authenticated records of collation and video evidence which in our considered opinion raise serious questions regarding certain aspects of the process and the eventual outcomes,” Adelabu said.
