Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has responded sharply to criticism from popular socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over the performance of his administration.
Nwifuru addressed the controversy on Sunday while speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally, where he reacted to calls by the socialite for him to leave office over alleged poor performance.
Cubana Chief Priest had questioned the governor’s achievements nearly three years into his administration, asking why major projects capable of leaving a lasting impact on Ebonyi State had not been completed.

The socialite also alleged that Ebonyi remained the only state in the South-East without significant development, accusing successive leaders of failing to move the state forward.
He reportedly described the state’s leaders as lacking the wisdom required to drive meaningful development while accusing them of holding on to outdated approaches.
Cubana Chief Priest has also been publicly backing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, ahead of the February 2027 governorship election.
However, Nwifuru dismissed the criticism, saying he was not interested in engaging the socialite.
The governor described Cubana Chief Priest as a “noisemaker” and “nobody,” insisting that he had more important issues to focus on.
“I don’t have time for Cubana Chief Priest. He’s a noisemaker and a nobody. But if I remember him… I’m sorry for him,” Nwifuru said.
The exchange has added a fresh dimension to the political activities already building up in Ebonyi ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
