Comedienne Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Warri Pikin, has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video of her on stage with singer Timaya.
The video, which circulated widely on social media over the weekend, showed Warri Pikin dancing with the singer during a performance. Some social media users criticised the interaction, arguing that her conduct was inappropriate given that she is married.
Reacting to the backlash, the comedienne apologised and accepted responsibility for her actions.
Warri Pikin explained that she had been backstage enjoying Timaya’s performance when he called for a woman to join him on stage while performing his song “Ukwu.” She said her excitement got the better of her and she rushed onto the stage.
According to her, she initially declined when she was asked to participate in the performance but eventually agreed after Timaya told her that she had come onto the stage and should not interfere with his show.

She admitted that the encounter appeared amusing while it was happening but looked different when the footage circulated online.
The comedian also disclosed that her husband, Ikechukwu, was unhappy about the incident.
Warri Pikin pleaded with her followers to forgive her, stressing that the behaviour did not represent her usual character.
She further reassured the public about her commitment to her marriage, asking her critics not to “push” her away from her husband.
The comedienne acknowledged that some people who criticised the video were genuinely concerned about her rather than simply trying to attack her.
She said the incident was an awkward situation that she regretted and felt compelled to address publicly.
Warri Pikin urged her followers to exercise understanding, saying she had learned from the controversy and remained committed to her family.
