UK Announces Extra £10bn Package to Support Ukraine

Britain has announced an additional £10 billion (13 billion U.S. dollars) in economic and military support for Ukraine, as the country continues to address the impact of its conflict with Russia.

British Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey announced the package on Wednesday while presenting the 2026 Budget at the House of Commons.

He said the funding would be provided through loans, export finance guarantees and £500 million in urgent military assistance to help Ukraine meet its needs this winter.

Healey added that Prime Minister Andy Burnham and he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier in the day to inform him of the new commitments.

Burnham described the package as the largest funding arrangement Britain had ever provided to Ukraine.

With the latest announcement, Britain’s total commitments to Ukraine have reached £35 billion (47 billion U.S. dollars), including £16 billion (21 billion U.S. dollars) in military assistance, according to the British government.

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the additional support would help Ukraine address immediate challenges while strengthening its economic resilience.

The announcement underscores Britain’s continued financial and military backing for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
