Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has said he is ready to die in defense of the citizens’ votes and democracy in the 2027 elections.
This is as he called on Nigerians not to be intimidated going into the general elections next year.
Obi was said to have made the declaration on Thursday while addressing supporters at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“Fear nothing.
Somebody said, ‘We are prepared to die. You know, I’m just as good to die. “You are not alone,” Obi said.
He also called on his supporters and all Nigerians to vote and protect their votes in the 2027 elections.
“All they want is for you to defend, and demand that the vote must count. And that is the demand that we are going to make, and make aggressively,” he said.

The former Anambra State Governor also warned that manipulations of the electoral process would be resisted.
He urged Nigerians to participate actively in political campaigns, stating that the country can only be rescued through collective action.
“Yes, they will attempt to manipulate it. But let me tell you, it won’t be easy this time.
“So if your hands are short, go to that campaign, believe that all of us will rescue our country,’’ Obi said.
The NDC presidential candidate also warned that no excuse must be tolerated in the stand against electoral malpractices, saying Nigerians are already suffering from bad leadership.
“That glitch is going to glitch our life if we let them continue. And that’s why we’re suffering now.
“Our refinery is bad because our leaders are bad,” he said.
