The spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo has said that opposition parties must work together if they hope to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“Okonkwo said this in an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media.
The ADC chieftain also questioned the capacity of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to defeat Tinubu if he decides to contest the election without forming a wider alliance with other opposition forces, it was reported.
Okonkwo said the division in opposition political parties could play into Tinubu’s hands in the 2027 election, making it hard for any single opposition candidate to defeat the president.

He insisted that the opposition stood a better chance if key political figures and parties agreed to work under one platform or arrangement that could pose a strong challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The only way out is coalition. So you don’t go down with a man who has told you from the first that power isn’t taken à la carte; you fight for it, you grab it, you snatch it, you run away with it”.
“So, if Peter Obi will go against Tinubu alone, Tinubu will eat him like biscuits. Will the Kano people embrace Peter Obi? They didn’t take him in 2023 when we had the chance. They will not accept him in 2027. Kwankwaso has nothing to add to the ticket. “Kwankwaso has also lost in Kano”, he said.
